A security Guard Was Viciously Beaten Up by a Trio.
Three men are facing charges for seriously assaulting a 53-year-old security officer watching the Caloundra Panthers AFL Club late last month.
Ricky Dawson was called in at the club after thieves broke into the building on North Street at Caloundra about 10 p.m. on July 28. While he was performing patrols at the site early morning until forensics could arrive, he was viciously beaten up by the trio with a house brick and a star picket. He pleaded for his life before the men left him bleeding on the ground. The gang later trashed parts of the clubhouse and stole food and drinks.
The victim, a part-time employee of security firm Imperial Protection Services for 10 years, suffered facial fractures as well as lacerations to his face, knees and arms. He was taken to Nambour General Hospital where he underwent surgery. He has been released from the hospital but has feared returning to work after his ordeal.
The three Golden Beach men, to aged 20 years and one aged 18, have been charged in Maroochydore Magistrates Court for two counts each of entering premises and committing an indictable offence and one count each of grievous bodily harm.
The three were remanded in custody for a hearing on Sept. 19.
Reports say that police are looking for another man in his late 20s who may have received injuries to his head during the incident.
